Well, our amazing PTA put on another terrific carnival on Friday at Cutten School. Games, food, crafts and even a climbing wall, were enjoyed by all. |

With the autumn sun shining and a plethora of perfect pumpkins to choose from our first fieldtrip of the year was a resounding success. We enjoyed a tractor ride, a hay bale maze, and a trip to the park. |

Thanks to Payton's dad, and the generous outreach efforts of Humboldt Fire District #1, we had a terrific "field trip" come to us yesterday. We learned about fire safety (do you have a meeting spot planned for your family in the event of a fire?), watched a fire fighter suit up, learned the ins and outs of a real fire engine and then got to use the fire hose. It was a memorable morning to say the least.

Today we were paid a visit by our amazing school social worker, Cherie Shipley, and her puppet pal, Peppy Puppy. Cherie will visit every Monday morning to talk about how we can all make problems smaller at school and at home. Ask your child about how to tell from someone's face when they need help. |

Yesterday we were treated to delicious apple cupcakes from our room parent, Heidi. They were decorative and delicious! Make sure to ask your child about the tasty surprise beneath the frosting. |

Each year US Cellular gives away $1 million to nearly 2 dozen schools, and we want your help making sure Ridgewood and Cutten Schools are part of that generosity. Visit any US Cellular store to get your voting code, then visit this website to activate your code. After that you can vote once a day until October 6th. You needn't be a US Cellular customer to participate, so spread the word and remember to vote daily! Have a child at Cutten School too and don't want them to miss out? Don't worry! To avoid splitting the vote cast yours for Ridgewood and if we win we funds will be shared between the two schools. |

After three days of voting we settled on a name for our class turtle, well actually we settled on three names. May we introduce to you Ridgewood River Sparkles, or more affectionately, Mr. Sparkles. |

Today on the Nature Trail we reviewed identification of both redwood trees and black huckleberry bushes. We also learned about red huckleberries and sword ferns.
